Welcome to Flatch

“Burgaw is back in business- show business that is.”

Burgaw is back in business- show business that is. The new Fox series, Welcome to Flatch, debuted its pilot this March and shows off a number of places locals just might recognize. Showcasing Burgaw as a fictional town in Ohio, the 2022 comedy series follows a documentary crew that studies young adults and their current concerns. With a population of just around 1600, the town of Flatch is full of quirky and eccentric personalities, leaving never a dull moment. Filming for Flatch commenced in Burgaw during November 2020, and the first season wrapped in February 2021. Reminiscent of Schitt’s Creek and Parks and Recreation, the documentary-style sitcom focuses on Flatch locals, Kelly Mallet (Chelsea Holmes) and Shrub Mallet (Sam Straley) navigating their small town and giving us an intimate look into the tight-knit community.

Welcome to Flatch is not the first production to put Burgaw on the map as a prime backdrop for small town Americana. Classics such as I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Silver Bullet (1985), Date with an Angel (1987) and many more have filmed iconic scenes in front of and inside familiar spots in Burgaw. Most recently, downtown main street (Wright Street) and storefronts including Harrell’s department store and Ma Dee’s Drug Store, were the backdrop for the upcoming series George and Tammy, starring Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon, who play country music’s legendary couple Tammy Wynette and George Jones.

Watch Burgaw on the big screen by staying tuned for new episodes of Welcome to Flatch premiering every Thursday at 9:30 p.m. on Fox. The 7 episode series is also available for streaming on Fox and Hulu.
