Don’t Let The Name Fool You

Hotdog food truck

“You will find a number of specialities served at Top Dog including ⅓ pound angus burgers, Nathan’s All Beef Hot Dogs and made-to-order french fries.”

Terri and Craig Warren were happily one year into retirement, settled on their farm when Terri’s relentless ambition had her itching for a new project.

The pair never imagined a food truck as their next venture, but thanks to the Warrens, one of Burgaw’s favorite food trucks was born – Top Dog Food Truck.

You will find a number of specialities served at Top Dog including ⅓ pound angus burgers, Nathan’s All Beef Hot Dogs and made-to-order french fries. Find a selection of sandwiches such as their sausage, egg and cheese croissant sandwich, or their breakfast favorite – a biscuit with sausage gravy. Ever had a fudge puppy? Top Dog makes a delightful chocolate dessert on a stick with a dusting of powdered sugar.

Family brought the Warrens to Burgaw, the food truck followed later. Having lived and worked in Iowa for more than 30 years, the pair made their way to the Carolinas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Settling on a farm right outside of Burgaw, the Warrens fit comfortably in the North Carolina community raising their horses.

Starting out as a push cart selling hotdogs to raise money to buy a new horse, Top Dog Food Truck has catapulted into a community favorite, serving food at Napa Auto Parts in Burgaw every Monday, and farmers markets throughout the area weekly.

“We love coming out here each week and engaging with the community”, said Craig. Burgaw has embraced the food truck, Terri, and Craig, making the “out-of-towners” feel right at home.

You can grab your hotdog or burger at Top Dog Food Truck every Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Napa Auto Parts in Burgaw. Check out the Top Dog truck on Facebook to see where they might pop up next.
