Small Businesses: The Heart of Burgaw
You can explain Burgaw in words; charming, nostalgic, warm, historic, but what is so special about Burgaw is really the feel. Burgaw cherishes what makes it so special. It’s protective of the journey, the history, the resilience. Burgaw will hold you accountable; there are no phonies in this town. But Burgaw will welcome you in, just as you are.
You can’t walk downtown without being greeted by Lisa with a hand to her chin, adjusting her holiday window display at the The Glass Cloche, or Razor Ray lifting a hand as you pass by the Ideal Barber Shop window. You can’t walk into Burgaw Antiqueplace without finding fast friends in Carol and Johnny Westbrook, who can tell you a story about any item in their shop or offer you a taste of the best fudge in town. You can’t peek into The Old Farm Shed without getting a whiff of fresh leather cowboy boots and experiencing the contagious energy of Jennifer and Jessica. Tina, next door at Southern Chic’s Treasures, can tell you about each of her vendors and suggest the best homemade gifts and Holly and her dad across the street at Burgaw Alimente will wish you well with a homemade dessert in hand!
Every town needs places to shop- to get a haircut, to buy gifts for our loved ones, to grab lunch, to get our caffeine fix on the way into work, but you can’t experience the feeling that makes Burgaw so special without the small business owners that show up everyday. Small businesses make up 44% of the US Economy, providing jobs, investing in their communities and supplying critical goods and services. Burgaw’s small business owners have done their part by showing up. Now it’s our turn. Get out and support your favorite friends and business owners this Saturday for Small Business Saturday and keep Burgaw local.
