Find Western Treasures and more at The Old Farm Shed in Burgaw

“Surrounded by the smell of rich, genuine leather right when you walk through the door, shoppers may feel like they were transported from North Carolina to their favorite spaghetti Western.”

Discover a little slice of the old West in Burgaw. From boots, buckles and hides, to hats and genuine leather – all sorts of clothing and oddities await customers at The Old Farm Shed

Surrounded by the smell of rich, genuine leather right when you walk through the door, shoppers may feel like they were transported from North Carolina to their favorite spaghetti Western.

Owner Jennifer Matthews has worked throughout the years to find the perfect niche for customers.

“At first it was strictly home goods,” she said. “But overtime customers would ask about the boots, hides, and western wear clothing.”

Matthews leveraged those requests and transformed her boutique into the unique store you find today. A Burgaw resident for 12 years, Jennifer loves the community around her and the community she’s built within The Old Farm Shed.

Here are some more interesting things you will find at The Old Farm Shed:

Check out the boot wall

Lining the walls of the store, shoppers will find real, genuine leather boots with diverse colors and styles. Find popular boot brands like Liberty Black, Corral and more.

2. Items are sourced from around the country

Matthews travels to multiple shows and markets every year, curating a collection of high-quality items from Colorado, Pennsylvania, Texas, Las Vegas, Arizona and Virginia.

3. All of the jewelry is from independent artists

Straying away from mass producers, The Old Farm Sheds jewelry is sourced from independent artists ranging from Burgaw to Colorado, leaving only unique pieces for each customer

The list could continue, but it’d be best to just go see for yourself. Matthews remembers when she opened her store in Burgaw about 8 years ago, she was nearly the only boutique in Burgaw aside from the popular community staples like Harrell’s Department Store and Burgaw Antique Place. Today the number of shops and boutiques around Matthews has grown substantially and she welcomes the change.

“It’s exciting to see the new places come in, and I’m hoping Burgaw will continue to see that growth,” Matthews said.

You can find The Old Farm Shed at 111 W. Fremont Street in Burgaw, North Carolina. Be sure to visit their website to take a peek at their interesting collection.
