Rochelle Furniture Co. All About the People

“Since day one, Rochelle Furniture Co. has always been about the people.”

Since day one, Rochelle Furniture Co. has always been about the people. With humble origins in 1936 selling items off the back of a pickup truck, the store has stayed tried and true to its values. Rochelle’s has seen plenty of change over the years. Eventually they grew from their pickup truck, to a brick-and-mortar consignment shop and eventually sold washing machines and offered plumbing and electrical services to Burgaw residents. This shop has stood the test of time.

Rochelle’s hasn’t shied away from its history, with a few washing machines still for sale, along with the original flooring in the back of the store, you can feel as though you’ve stepped back into its beginnings. Today, Ross Harrell runs Rochelle’s to the tune of an antique store, selling furniture, art work and trinkets.

In the store you can find some of Ross’ personal favorite pieces, making this store something he truly loves. One of the best things about his business is talking about his passion for antiques with others who share the same excitement. “Being able to get excited and talk about a piece with someone is a big thing for me.” When asked about his neighboring businesses that are in the same antique market, Ross says, “An empty storefront in a town like this isn’t good for anybody. We work together and appreciate one another.” Ross grew up in this community and understands that there’s nothing quite like growing up in Burgaw, let alone running a business in it. He values his community and enjoys “doing business with people he’s known his entire life. This business is truly about the people that come in.”

You can visit Ross and the antiques at Rochelle’s located at 111 W. Fremont Street in Burgaw, North Carolina.
