Happy NC Blueberry Festival!

“This year, the recipe contest had over 60 entries garnering contestants from  around the state and of course, Burgaw.”

The 19th Annual Blueberry Festival weekend kicked off Friday with the beloved Blueberry Recipe Contest at the Historic Burgaw Train Depot. This year, the recipe contest had over 60 entries garnering contestants from  around the state and of course, Burgaw. The recipe contest consists of five different categories that each dish is judged by:

  1. Appetizers

  2. Breads

  3. Desserts

  4. Miscellaneous

  5. Youth

How the Judging Works

Each category is judged by a panel of six judges exclusively selected by the NC Blueberry Festival committee. There is a first, second and third place prize among each category. Each entry must be an original recipe and contain at least one cup of blueberries. Winners will receive cash prizes and ribbons, including $200 for first-place entries, $75 for second and $25 for third. :

Following the judging of each category, a “Best of the Best” judging squares off the winner of each category againstlone another. The first place overall winning recipe will win an additional $100 and a medallion. But that’s not all! If the recipe contains King Arthur baking flour, the winner can win additional gift cards for King Arthur flour.
